Garlic Rice
Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml
Ingredients
- Oil -2 tsp
- Mustard – ½ tsp
- Urad Dal – 1 tsp
- Channa Dal – 1 tsp
- Dry Red Chilli – 3
- Roasted Peanuts – 2 tbsp
- Curry leaves a spring
- Garlic- 12 pods chopped
- Onion – 1 thinly sliced
- Red Chilli powder – ¾ to 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Salt as needed
- Cooked Rice – 1 cup
- Coriander leaves to garnish
Instructions
- Heat a pan with oil once its hot add in the mustard seeds. Let it splutter. Next add in the Urad Dal and Channa Dal.
- Saute till it is golden. Next add in the Dry Red Chilli and roasted peanuts. Saute for few secs and then add in the Curry leaves.
- Saute and then add in the chopped garlic pods. Saute til it turn slightly golden.
- Next add in the thinly sliced onions. Cook till it turns glossy. Then add in the red chilli powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric powder and the required Salt.
- Mix well and cook till the raw smell of the masala leaves and then add in the cooked and cooled Rice. Give a good mix and cook for 2 mins in a low flame.
- Finally garnish with coriander leaves and switch off.

Notes
- Serve with yogurt and any thogayal.
- You can add more garlic if you like the flavour.
- Basmati Rice can also be added.
