Yam Roast Recipe

Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time : 15 mins |Serves: 2 |Author :Sharmila Kingsly Yam / Karunai Kizhangu – 1 cup
Oil – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Salt as needed
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala – ¼ tsp
Curry Leaves – a spring
Method :
1. Peel the skin of the yam and chop them into cube sized pieces. In a vessel add in turmeric powder and salt and bring it to boil. To this add in the chopped Yam and cook till its 90 % done.
2. Drain the cooked yam and set it aside. In a pan add in oil once it heats up add in the Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal ,let it splutter Next add in the Chilli powder and Garam Masala. Let the flame be low.
3. Next add in Curry Leaves and saute for few secs and then add in the Cooked Yam.
4. Roast in a low flame for about 10 mins till the masala is fully coated and the yam becomes dry. Switch off and serve with Rice.
Notes:
· Serve hot with Rice, Sambar.
· You can also add in grated coconut and garlic pods for extra flavour.
