Mango Dal Recipe | Mamidikaya Pappu Recipe | Raw Mango Pappu with step by step photos .The summer season has come and the hence the Mango season too started. I have a Mango tree in backyard and hence I get plenty of mangos, So cooked few mango delicacies. One of them is this humble mango dal.
Mango Dal so simple and one of the famous dishes in Andhra. I have tasted it many times in Andhra Mess in Office Food Court, since then I wanted to share this recipe. Somehow I missed posting this dal last summer as my mom sends me mango every year without fail.

How to prepare Mango Dal
2. Once the pressure is released open the cooker and mash the dal, to this add in Salt and Turmeric powder and mix well. Add water if required. Heat a pan with oil to this add Mustard Seeds, Cumin seeds ,Dry Red Chilli and Garlic pods.
3. Add Hing, Curry Leaves saute for few secs and then add in the cooked Dal. In a low flame cook till the dal starts to boil and the desired consistency is reached. Garnish with Coriander leave sand switch off the flame.

Mango Dal
Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml
Ingredients
- Mango – 1 medium sized
- Onion – 1
- Green Chilli – 2
- Salt as needed
- Water – 1 ½ cup
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Coriander Leaves – to garnish
To Temper:
- Oil– 1 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds -1 tsp
- Dry Red Chilli – 2
- Hing /Asafoetida – a generous pinch
- Garlic pods – 8
Instructions
- In a pressure cooker take Tour Dal, Moong Dal, Chopped Mango pieces, Onion and Green Chili .Add in water and pressure cook for 4 whistles in medium flame.
- Once the pressure is released open the cooker and mash the dal, to this add in Salt and Turmeric powder and mix well. Add water if required. Heat a pan with oil to this add Mustard Seeds, Cumin seeds ,Dry Red Chilli and Garlic pods.
