Rava kesari is one easy sweet. This is one no fail recipe of Rava Kesari. Say any festivals or functions Rava Kesari be there in the menu. It is that popular and one most important sweets in south Indian weddings too.
Whenever I crave anything sweet, the sweet that comes to my mind is Rava Kesari. We can cook as quickly as in 20 mins with just the pantry ingredients. Whenever you have any sudden guests, without any second thought you can go quickly for the Kesari.
The goodness of this Kesari is that it melts in the mouth. So do not reduce the ghee in the Kesari.
How to prepare Rava Kesari
2) In the same pan add water and let it boil. Add the fried rava slowly into the boiling water and keep stirring. Stir continuously so that no lumps formed.
3) Cook for 3 -4 mins until the rava gets cooked well.
4) Now slowly add the sugar and kesari powder. Keep stirring continuously. There might be lumps but don’t panics as the sugar melts the lumps will disappear.
5) Keep stirring continuously.
7)Fry the Cashew nuts and raisins in ghee and add to the Kesari.
Tips
- You can grease a plate and spread the Kesari after cooling down you can cut it into desired shapes and serve.
- Elachi powder(Cardamom) could be also added it adds a nice aroma to the kesari.

Rava Kesari
Standard 1 cup measures 240 ml
Ingredients
- ½ cup Rava/sooji/semolina
- ¾ cup Sugar
- 1½ cup Water
- ¼ cup Ghee
- 8 Cashew nuts
- 5 Raisins
- Food colour - A pinch
Instructions
- Heat a non-stick pan add ghee and once it’s hot add the rava and fry till nice aroma comes from the rava. Fry the rava in medium flame .And transfer to a plate and set aside.
- In the same pan add water and let it boil. Add the fried rava slowly into the boiling water and keep stirring. Stir continuously so that no lumps formed.
- Cook for 3 -4 mins until the rava gets cooked well.
- Now slowly add the sugar and kesari powder. Keep stirring continuously. There might be lumps but don’t panics as the sugar melts the lumps will disappear.
- Keep stirring continuously until the kesari consistency is reached (Such that the rava doesn’t stick to the pan).
